60 plus students and staff from VNR Vignanajyoti Engineering College went on an educational tour which also covered Himachal Pradesh. As part of the group got down at a spot on the Beas river to take photos in the picturesque site, little did they imagine that they got down to their watery grave. The Hydro electric project on the upper side released a lrage swath of water towards the lower Larji dam. The water gushed down, but the young and happy students could not see it as there was a bend in the river hiding the rushing water from their view. Soon, one by one, 24 of them were swept away, the rocky terrain and the mud sliding down will soon make even the recovery of bodies close to impossible. In a similar accident last year, when a bus fell down into the Beas river, recovery of bodies took more than a month.
